Making progress

Dear FutureMe, You finished your first year of law school. That is an accomplishment. You have in fact accomplished a lot this year. So stop being so hard on yourself. Remember that things could be worse. It's not November, outside, with foremen being assholes. We made it out of Point Roberts. We made it out of Fred Meyer. We survived the alcoholic Ukranian and the Griffins. Poverty can't last forever. And Jamie is a great kid, even if he does grate on the nerves sometimes. Remember how he woke up this morning with kisses. And being solo is better than being with someone who wants to own you. This freedom was hard won. Being lonely is still better than still being married and hating your life. Remember, life felt like it was over at 25 too.
