Time Travelled — 12 months

Peaceful right?

Dear FutureMe, By this time next year, you should have your degree. Political Science with a minor in Economic Policy. We're working two jobs right now, but you said you might quit one after you graduate. Are you still working both? Are you still wishing to quit one? Or is the money worth it? (Have you gotten a raise??) We're about to move into our best friend's closet until we get approved for that apartment (hoping we do). Well, did we? Did we move in with her and her boyfriend? If we did, your lease will be ending soon. How's that working out? We started taking our antidepressants last October, and the doctor said we can start weaning off them this coming October. So by the time you're reading this, you should be on your eighth month without Lexapro. How do you feel? Sometimes I still feel this inexplicable sadness, and I'm afraid to be off it. I can't imagine how much worse it could be if I didn't take my medication. So hopefully my fears are unfounded. Have you been saving your money???? I'm tired of being poor and having an empty savings account. Save your money!!

Epilogue

All of that did happen. And we realized we don’t need antidepressants, because...

"I'm tired of being poor and having an empty savings account. Save your money!!" This made me laugh, but not really. Let me go amend my own letter to my 2024 self. And the immediate tug of "me too" with undiagnosed ADHD and ASD. My diagnosis explained so much of me to me. I'm so glad you got out of that relationship and both those jobs. And I hope your career is a success in every way that's meaningful to you
