Dear future me,
Right now, I’ve received two scholarships to ASU, most notable of which being the three-year army ROTC scholarship. I hope your first year in Senior ROTC was amazing and stellar. Just last week I retired from being battalion commander and took the first steps towards the big army. As you're wrapping up your freshman year of college, I hope you kept the scholarship benefits and didn’t do anything stupid.
My world right now is a lot of events and things. I own a lot of ASU clothes and khaki pants that I hope you still own. I live between both my mom and my dads house. I’m sure now that you have your own dorm, with your own stable living space, that you don’t miss the back and forth. Graduation is a week away.
Right now, I’m doing a whole lot of nothing. I dedicated a majority of my time towards JROTC and DECA, and now that I am finished with that it’s time to pick up some personal hobbies. My hope is that in the summer, or your summer before college, that I get into golfing, and stand-up comedy. I also want you to focus a lot on physical fitness, but i'm sure by the time you get this letter you’re already an absolute unit.
All my family is in my life right now, and so are my good friends, Dahlia, Yahir and Montse. Make sure to check up on them, especially Dahlia since she’s the furthest away. Hopefully you maintain regular contact with them. Hopefully you have the same girlfriend but if not, that sucks for you, because I have them right now, loser!
This year was the most eventful year in my life. As I closed out JROTC and DECA with a bang, going to Florida and earning an honor unit with distinction. My senior year was incredibly successful, even if you don’t think so. I hope to carry this success into my freshman year of college, and hopefully you still feel the success I feel today.
I predict that I will be more physically fit and absolutely crush my first year of college. I predict that I was on the ranger team because of my knowledge and fitness. I also predict that I am already in talks with being a squad leader or something more for my freshman year. Hopefully I also earned a summer internship with cadet command or even jump school already. Also, I better have good grades or I’m going to be mad at you from the past. I know it's impossible, i'll find a way.
P.S.
Send an email to Mrs. Sandoval and thank her for making this letter. Call your parents, they probably miss you, and call Dahlia. Check in on your friends. Check in on the cadets you left behind too, help them if they want to join you at ROTC.
From the past,
Robert Davis
Epilogue
about 8 hours laterDear senior year robert
There was a lot of things you were hopeful for that I didn’t do. You got to keep your scholarships though so don’t worry. I can’t...
