Dear FutureMe,
Are you finally standing on your own two feet? Did you lose the house or the cars? Do you have a job yet, or are you still trying to make your own business work?
Man, 27 and still not self-sufficient. Never in a million years would I have guessed this would be me. Still relying on parents and in-laws just to make the bills. Considering going to that church that gives away free groceries every Tuesday. Signing our baby up for state insurance because we can't insure her ourselves.
I hope when you read this, you've gotten past the dark finanial days that I'm in right now. If so, don't forget how to live frugally so you never have to be where I am again. Don't eat out all the time, don't spend money frivolously, don't be wasteful.
If you have a job, be thankful that you are providing for your family, and don't feel guilty about having to put O in daycare. You're providing a roof over her head and clothes to wear and food to eat, and you're still her parent, not her babysitter. NO GUILT! It wasn't the original plan, but if that's the way it's worked out, then accept that God has a plan.
Work hard at your job so you don't lose it like you did the first one. But don't work so hard that your family suffers your absence.
I really hope that when you read this, you're in a better place financially. If not, don't forget all the non-monetary riches you have. It's those things that make life worthwhile anyway.
