Dear FutureMe,
“Getting there”, to that place you consider as the best place for you, takes lots of sacrifice and preparation. It isn’t a one-off. You’re not competing with others, you’re challenging only yourself. Only you will see the daily strides you make, and only you can be proudest of what those accomplishments are, no matter how small they seemed at the moment.
You’ll be tempted at times to take it easy, to choose something better that is less mundane for the moment, but in the mundane are going to sometimes be the building blocks for success. Consider how returning to college was about thousands of hours of preparing for that moment you walked across the stage. You cried and frustrated yourself to three degrees you didn’t feel worthy of at one point as your younger you, and you initially dropped out of college overwhelmed by lack of direction. But once you returned and remembered the life templates you built upon strong choices, like serving in the military, for instance, you realized that any solid foundation begins with “hard work” that can be mind-numbing and back-breaking, but when allowed to run its natural course is a part of an honest and solid achievement that founds a greater part of your development. Don’t quit.
There will be days when you don’t want to make sacrifices, but remember, it’s the only way we change and grow toward our dream. In fact, you will never be too old to want a better life, or for that matter a better you. This can only be achieved by working on what you call your “today”. Those days strung together create a future that only you can, and you will, determine through daily habit of choice. I hope you will choose to make each day count as a habit way of thinking, acting, choosing and preparing.
You’ve spent the past 10 years in the events industry, planning and creating. You’ve envisioned, you’ve failed quite a number of times, and you’ve put in hard work, in the hopes that you could own your own business some day.
It’s my desire for you that you will believe you are talented enough to step away from that safety net that holds you back from starting your own professional design business, while finishing your Bachelor’s degree.
I want to see you reach for the stars like you did for others. If you can believe you can invest and stretch for someone else’s business success, why not begin with today to do that for you too. You are the best investment you’ll ever make in this lifetime! Believe me. You’ve invested in you all these years and look what you have, a beautiful, strong, resilient spirit that tackles walls, and forges through difficulty when you come across it. Success isn’t scary when you decide it’s time to make it about your future and not the future of another. You’re an entrepreneur. You have what it takes. Find an older mentor, learn from them, learn their wisdom, become a student of vision and success for you! Invest in that. And then share that with others like yourself. You give back to the world and help others succeed and find themselves too, and then you will have made it all count! You are worth it! And you can have a dream job, be your own boss! And have fun while working very very hard. I believe in you my future self. Let’s prove it together you can work toward your success alright where you are today. Let’s go do it together.
Sincerely,
Me
